I Don't Do Ordinary

Recently while at the CALL in Montgomery, Alabama, I was praying and telling the Lord, “I am so ordinary. How is it that You have me taken me many places in ministry, allowed me to sit and pray along with such strong intercessors, and to learn about You?”

I felt His Spirit begin to speak within me, “Lisa, you ask Me to use you, help you be a piece of clay that I can mold and work through, but then you stop me and only let Me go so far. You ask ‘why me’ of your God…Why not you, Lisa? If you ask Me to use you, LET ME. Hear ME on this: I DON’T do ordinary”.

Next is silence...time to really comprehend that. Next is…tears. Next, the realization that anything God makes is not ordinary, but extra ordinary.

You---no matter where you are, what you are doing, what is wrong in your life, you matter greatly to Him who distinctly created you and with divine purpose. We shouldn’t take pride in this, but gratitude, He doesn’t think any of us are ordinary.

About this same time, I remembered how I used to think John 20: 7 and 20 were sort of arrogant of John, describing himself as “the disciple whom Jesus loved.” The Lord had previously led me on this one too. He desires we all take to heart how accurate this description of John was then and now is of ourselves! John described himself with the highest account possible. You and I must join him: we are the disciples whom Jesus loves!

I will be traveling next week for the National Day of Prayer events. Please pray for divine appointments while in Alaska (Anchorage to Fairbanks—12 hour Prayer Train) and that God would be glorified as we cover the nation in prayer during the PrayerFlight (all 50 states covered) AGAPE!

The response of the Lord would be staggering if we were so full of pride we were unable to discern His Voice. However, your humility and that of all true Intercessors is markedly noticeable. Hence the reason for His loving answer to you! PTL!!
God gaves grace to the Humble, and it is with only that genuine submission on our collective faces, that we can approach a Holy God.
The "disciple whom Jesus loved"....we have all had some trouble with that one...until we realize "what is it to you, if I love John?" That is awesome. So He chose John to write that in the Gospel....but He also chose to send Lisa all over America, and Brian to speak to the hearts of men etc etc....and He uses nobodies like me, whom the world sneezes at!
Now WE have become "disciples whom Jesus loves"!! Hallelujah, what a Savior!
God bless you as NDP comes quickly upon us and may be continue in strength, to serve Him.

I just found this blog through the NDP website...wonderful post Lisa!!

I feel bad for "Kaisert", as it is obvious that he does not know God. That is the great mystery of God's relationship with His created; a relationship where God knows us and we can know Him. I feel sorry for you, "Kaisert", that you have never heard God's voice speak into your spirit.

Please understand; for those of us that know God, it is like trying to explain a color that you have never seen before. Just because you have never seen it, however, doesn't mean it is not there.

Love to you and I pray that God would open your eyes and your heart.

Anonymous: I guess I'm trying to understand your color metaphor. I know all about colors that I've never seen before, so it's hard for me to figure out what you mean. In science class, we learned about the various repeatable and verifyable experiments that were performed by scientists. There are two sets of colors that are outside the visible spectrum: infrared and ultraviolet. We don't see these colors because our eyes have the capacity to only pick up a specific range of light frequencies. The concept of light frequencies was discovered much after we started observing the visible spectrum, and so originally it was called "colors".

I wish all this information had just been layed out for me in the Bible, but unfortunately there is very little information about the world around us in the Bible. The Bible world seems so bland and small and vague (and violent!).

So, there is no need to feel sorry for me. The world I live in is extremely complex and vibrant, and ever changing. Every day scientists learn something new that can be directly applied to my daily life. Meanwhile, I have yet to find anything in the Bible about the internet.

Did you know that you can shift non-visible light into the visible spectrum? That's how color brighteners work when you put them in the laundry! It's exciting!

You really should have someone test you for the voices you hear. I don't think that's healthy at all, and could be a sign of schizophrenia, a very serious condition.

Kaisert,

I am sorry you struggled with my color metaphor. You seem to be a well educated person; one who values truth in the world around him. I value the creator of the world around us. It all really boils down to faith, and unfortunately the highly educated tend to want to "figure it all out". (Trust me, I am a college professor. I see this daily.) Faith is "the act of the intellect assenting to a Divine truth owing to the movement of the will, which is itself moved by the grace of God" (St. Thomas, II-II, Q. iv, a. 2). Faith is a gift supernaturally bestowed upon the understanding, so also this Divine grace moving the will is an equally supernatural and an absolutely gratuitous gift from God. Neither gift is attained through previous study, and neither of them can be acquired by human efforts. Only God can give this to a person. This is not reachable by simply studying the world around us. Studying the world around us will reveal to us that there is an intelligent creator. You seek truth; Jesus said, "I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.

Continue to seek truth, and you will find Him.

With love...
